Stourbridge BID - Lower High Street Planters

Stourbridge Business Improvement District (BID) has successfully delivered a public realm improvement project on Lower High Street, providing a lasting enhancement to a key area of the town centre.

Funded through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF), the project focused on replacing two existing planters that had significantly deteriorated and were no longer fit for purpose. The new planters have been designed in keeping with the town’s established streetscape, finished in the distinctive Stourbridge Blue colour to complement the modern planter scheme seen across the town centre.

Managed by Stourbridge BID, the project was delivered in partnership with students from King Edward VI College and volunteers from Stourbridge In Bloom. This collaborative approach not only ensured the successful delivery of the scheme but also encouraged community involvement and ownership.

Working together, partners carefully removed and retained existing plants for reuse, dismantled and disposed of the old planters, and installed and replanted the new features. The refreshed planters have introduced a renewed vibrancy to Lower High Street, bringing a welcome splash of colour and contributing to a more attractive and cohesive environment. The new planters are a welcomed addition by both Matt at Stourbridge Music Shop and Jon at Riteway Shoe Repairs were the planters are located.

This project represents a meaningful legacy investment in the town centre, enhancing the experience for businesses, residents and visitors alike, while demonstrating Stourbridge BID’s commitment to delivering high-quality improvements through strong local partnerships.
